Atlassian will fully withdraw from data center and self-managed products by 2029. While the shift to cloud brings clear benefits like faster innovation and reduced complexity, it also raises challenges around compliance, data privacy, and custom integrations.
What does this mean for your organization and what are your options?

We truly live in thrilling times. Do you remember one of the worst movies from the late 2010s? I’m not talking about Suicide Squad, but Geostorm. The plot is …, well forget it.
However, in a figurative sense the world of software development is facing a perfect storm in terms of security. Why is that?
AI is also helping the bad guys to identify, exploit and attack software faster than ever. Currently Gen or Agentic AI does not have a sense of ethical coding.
We see more attacks on our software supply chains, with malware in particular. Well, you might think this is covered with your existing toolchain (and you might be right), but there is more to come.
The steep increase in adopting AI is not only causing an orchestration issue but also increases the security risks. Only a minority of agents are properly governed, which also means you must control the permissions that allow agents to do their job. This highlights another blind spot, the fact that it is hard to properly maintain the identities with the associated permissions for your development team.
You find up to 20 times more machine identities in a modern AI development infrastructure. Why is this a problem? Let me go back to the movies – remember the film Surrogates? In a nutshell, humans stay at home and act as operators for avatars that act on their behalf.
You might find a similar plot in your development teams. Agents, bots and chats usually inherit the identity (and for that the permissions) of the users. If you have ever tried to implement a proper Role-based access control across multiple tools in a stack, you know it is hard.
And if they do not what they should? Well, you might be liable due to NIS2, CRA and other acts that might cause brutal fines.
This is why we put a highlight on our latest partner Blueflagsecurity (Identity-Centric SDLC Security and Governance | BlueFlag Security). They address exactly the additional security threads and give you a deep inside into identities, associated risks around permissions, with the ability to take corrective actions. In case you would like to know which risc you might face, contact us for a free consultation. It will help to get to the same end as the Geostorm movie – a happy end!
Our partner JFrog recently shared an interesting perspective on how AI is reshaping software security. As new AI capabilities, like built-in vulnerability detection announced by companies such as Anthropic and OpenAI, help developers identify security issues while writing code, creating secure software is becoming easier than ever.
But here’s the catch: modern applications are no longer just about the code developers write. Today’s releases often contain dozens or even hundreds of external components, from open-source dependencies to third-party libraries and AI plugins. Even if the code itself is secure, vulnerabilities can still enter through the software supply chain.
In their blog, JFrog explains why organizations need visibility and control not only at the code level but also across the binaries and artifacts that make up every release. It’s a fresh look at how AI-driven development and strong governance together create a more secure path from code to production.
